How to make your own Wedding Planner book {Free Printables}

Updated 6/23/2016: Russel and Hazel has uploaded the Wedding Binder Pages back on to their website!
{(Feel free to pin this guide to your pinterest)}

After searching high and low in every book store in my area for the perfect wedding planner...I decided to make my own.  First of all, I love office supplies! I love the idea of planners, so this decision was easy for me. (I also made my own lesson planning notebook this way as well, since being a teacher is stressful enough. Lesson planning in style calms me!)

I started by searching google, tumblr, and pinterest. I came across several awesome sites that offer you an effective planner that include timelines, lists, contact info, etc.

I already had a binder that I loved, so I started with that. I did get it at Staples, and it's a Martha Stewart office supply (1 inch binder). I absolutely love Martha Stewart office supplies, and I actually made my lesson planning book using the Martha Stewart's discbound notebook. Anyways, Staples always has coupons in their weekly ad for the Martha Stewart's office supply line. I did buy new dividers for this planner, and a zip pouch to hold all my small business cards. (These are apart of the Martha Stewart office supply line at Staples.) The beautiful pen that's on top of my planner was actually a gift, but it's a Swarovski Crystalline Rose Pearl Pen. I call it my teacher/bride pen. I really love this pen, and to be honest its the best pen I have ever owned. It's not heavy, and it writes really great. (It makes that special pen sound when writing :))
These pens are sold on Swarovski website but the place to buy one is actually on Amazon.com. The Swarovski website sells them but their always out of stock. Buying it off Amazon is much better because not only do they have the pen in stock, but it's cheaper and they can ship it to your house.

Everyone has a different way of planning, so you can customize your planner the way you want. I just started by trying not to spend too much money on something I will ultimately breakdown and throw away. I bought my post it's at the dollar store (I try and go to the dollar store whenever I see one). I use them for everything, so I stuck my post it panel in my wedding planner, because let's face it...everyone needs their post it's. (And we don't want to spend more than what's needed for them either.) They do their job, and the best part of this is that it fits right into the binder, and has different sizes, and shapes!! I love it. Only $1. After my post it's, I have my Martha Stewart zip pouch. The total cost of my wedding planner ($14.17- this includes the already bought binder. Make sure you wait to buy anything at Staples until there's a good coupon. I waited until I saw a 40% off coupon.)

First, I have to tell you that all the paper that's in my planner was printed, and FREE!! (I will include the free printable links. Free printable Wedding Planners are everywhere online.) I started with my calendar. I actually found this calendar on a website called Infarrantly Creative. (Thank you Infarrantly Creative for this calendar) Click here for the Free printable calendar.

UPDATE 11/15/2013: Since writing this post, I do use the calendar in this planner, but I also found another great resource from Michelle Lea Designs. I need a weekly planner to help me organize my weeks separatley. I used this weekly planner in my bridesmaids planners, and I love it so much I printed out 52 weeks of the weekly planner for my own Wedding Planner.  Michelle's blog has so many other printable planners for all you DIY ladies out there, I strongly recommend that you visit her blog to find so much more!!

If you want to print out this weekly planner go to Michelle Lea Designs blog. or Click here.

Don't get scared if it refers you to a blog planner website. This is a blog calendar, Yes...lol but I have my specific ways, and I preferred a portrait calendar over a landscaped calendar. I have to have my calendar, because it's not a planner without one. If you plan differently and don't need a calendar, then go ahead and skip this step. I should also include that Martha Stewart actually has an insert-able calendar to go with this binder. If you prefer it, but I didn't get it because it was pricey and I thought why buy something you can get for free on the Internet right? So I searched, and searched and finally came across this calendar. You can fill it in and print out as many as you need.

  1. I found your website on Pinterest and I have to say I've been on a few blogs that show you how to make your own wedding planner and it seems like they just forgot the whole point of making your own wedding planner. Which is making a wedding planner on the cheap but keeping it cute, functional, and essentially simple. Thank you for posting this, its been useful and now I can't wait to start making my own. Thanks for also including the links.

    1. Hi Hanakate, the planner printed out a little light for me too, but it didn't bother me. I think its because its time to change your printer cartridges or you can try to change your printer settings to make it darker. I hope that helps you. If not I have other links to wedding planners that are also good at the end if the page.

  4. Importance of Mehndi in Indian Weddings...

Indian marriages are known for their many rituals. In fact, the beauty of Indian weddings comes forth in the numerous traditions that are associated with the special celebration. Marriages being the most important day in one's life, mehndi has become an ornament for the soon to be brides. Infact one whole ceremony dedicated to its celebration popularly known as "Mehndi Ki Raat".Indian marriages are incomplete without dance, music and lots of laughter.

It is a common belief that the darker the color the mehndi leaves on the hands on a bride, the more will she be loved by her husband and mother-in-law. However, the significance of applying mehndi during weddings is not restricted just to sentiments and beliefs. Although these beliefs make the application of mehndi a much anticipated and charming tradition, the actual reason is of much deeper significance.

  19. Confused bride-to-beNovember 12, 2013 at 8:48 PM

I love your blog! I have just got engaged to my high school sweetheart who is about to leave out for basic training for the air force, and we're kind of on a low budget so this really helps! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted of my shoulders:) But I am having trouble picking bridesmaids and my flower girls. I want my 15 year old sister to be a bridesmaid but I'm afraid she will feel upset if I choose my older friend over her as the maid of honor and I really want to include his younger sister along with mine younger sister as the flower girls but I'm not sure if I do this if his sister-in-law will feel left out or not plus I don't want my friends feeling like I'm picking favorite. Any advice?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi confused bride to be,

haha I really like your name! The name fits me so well as well! Thank you for liking my blog!
Planning a wedding is such a hassle, you would've never thought, because the illusion of it all looks like so much fun.

My advice, should you choose you accept it...lol:

I am not naming a specific maid of honor, because women are just so competitive and we all hold grudges. You can have as many bridesmaids as you want, and remember to call them all your MOH's. You know who your real MOH is in your heart but never say it out loud...lol
I'm personally not including my fiance's sisters, because he has 6 of them. So it's understandable that I couldn't include one because then they all want to be one. So I'm lucky there. Remember that it's your wedding day, not your in laws or your families day! Have who ever you want in your wedding.
I'm currently going through the same thing with picking my wedding party! It's really hard but I had to tell them "not everyone can be in the wedding party people, some people have to be in the seats we pay for right?" lol I mean really!!
My advice would be to go with your heart! Who do you really want in the wedding? For me, it's who is closest to me, and my relationship. Including people who support your relationship in your face and behind your back (which is super important).

In the end, everyone invited to the wedding, is included no matter what because they get to witness the exchanging of vows and they get to eat your free food! Right?! I hope that helps, and good luck with picking your wedding party! If you have any more questions I'm happy to answer!

    xoxo, Jess

    1. Hi Jessica,

Thank you so much for your kind words, and I have to apologize for the late response. With the holidays on it's way and the semester coming to an end, I've been a little busy. I;m so glad you liked my planner the most, I tried to keep it as simple as possible, because it gets too costly, and in the end the real money should go towards your wedding :) I actually won't start the planning process until after Christmas as well. I did find my venue but I had to push my date back a whole month. We'll be planning together :)
I have no idea why the russel and hazel print out isn't working! I looked into it, and I have it saved on my computer. I'm attaching it in my email. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you in any other way. I'm happy to help :)

  56. Here are some tips to share with every one which I personally
apply in my wedding after getting from http://www.weddingplanningfun.com:

    1.Start with a budget.

2.Make a list of all the needs, wants and even
    desires for the event.

    3.Put a value on
each of the needs, wants and desires on your list.

    4.Begin planning
out the event according to your budget starting
with the needs and the most important
aspects of the event and working down to everything else.

5.Be willing to cut back on items when necessary to
    stay within budget.

    6.Use creative
alternatives to help sustain your budget

    7. Create a
schedule so that you know what tasks need to be
    completed and when.

    8. Be organized
so that you know where all your contract, receipts and schedules are located at
    any given time.

    10. Start early.
The more time that you have to plan the
event then the easier it will be to plan and the more money you will likely be
able to save along the way.
